Regionally Accredited Online High School

When choosing an online high school, selecting a properly accredited online school is very important. Students need to be aware that not all accreditation has the same weight with employers, colleges and universities. There are two types of accreditation. Recognized (legitimate) and (not recognized, or “fake accreditation”)

Accreditation is the stamp of approval that gives employers, colleges and universities the assurance of quality behind a school. An accreditation review is always done by a third party and is not an internal function. Most fake online schools create their own legitimate sounding accrediting agency with a website to look official. The problem with fake accreditation is that when you present your unaccredited diploma to an employer, college or university, it will always be rejected. There is generally little to no quality with most unaccredited online high schools. Having an unaccredited diploma be rejected by your employer or college, can be a very embarrassing situation.

There are two types of Accreditation.
Government Recognized Accreditation (Accepted)

1.) Northwest Accreditation Commission (NWA) AdvancED
2.) NCA-CASI North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA CASI) AdvancED
3.) Southern Association of Colleges and Schools council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CASI) AdvancED
4.) Distance Education and Training Council (DETC)
5.) New England Association of Schools and Colleges
6.) Western Association of Schools and Colleges
7.) State Accreditation
8.) Association of Christian Schools International

Worthless Accreditation without US Recognition. (Not Accepted)

Any accrediting agency not listed above as [government recognized] will likely not be accepted by any employers, colleges and universities. **If you are unsure about your school’s accreditation, contact your State’s Department of Education and they can validate questions concerning accreditation.
Students should understand that Regional accreditation is the gold standard of accreditation with employers, schools and colleges. Graduates’ that hold a diploma from a Regionally accredited online high school can always be sure that their diplomas and credits will be accepted by employers, colleges and universities.

The sad truth is there are more fake online high schools operating, with bogus accreditation than legitimately accredited schools. Most of these schools (diploma mills) operate from the Middle East and outside of the reach of US Law Enforcement. Pakistan is a hot spot for fake diploma mills. Americans spend hundreds of millions of dollars each year purchasing fake diplomas. Students really need to do their homework, because a fake diploma is never accepted by a college or employer. Background and screening companies maintain an extensive list of fake online schools. Colleges and Universities also maintain a comprehensive list of accepted online high schools.

The International Registry for Accreditation, for AdvancED Regionally Accredited Online High Schools lists legitimately accredited schools and districts. If you school is not in the International Registry for Accreditation or with DETC, colleges and employers will reject the diploma. It is very simple for colleges and employers to determine whether you diploma is legitimate or fake.
In the long run, it always makes the most sense to do your homework when selecting an online high school. By selecting a Regionally Accredited Online High School, you can save yourself time and money by having the assurance that your diploma will be accepted. If you select a fake school, it will not be accepted and you will later need to go with a Regionally Accredited High School anyway. Select the properly accredited school and move your career and education forward faster.
